Bryant House Visit

On Monday Room 11 went to Bryant House. Bryant House is a resthome in Taradale. We went and shared a piece of our writing and asked questions about their lives so we could write a brief biograpghy on that person. We each had a partner and we were also paired up with a resident.

Our Quotes

I enjoyed that we got to learn from older people who have lots to share – Nand

Our visit was great because they told us facts about Taradale that we didn’t know – Logan

I liked how they told us how the world was back in the olden days – Ashley

I like how the old people have lots of memories – Amber

I liked how they shared their lives with us –Mir

The old men were funny because they were a bit cheeky – Cassie

We got to laugh together so that was great –Stefani

We are looking forward to going back and sharing their biographies with them.

We all felt really proud of ourselves.

Photos will be posted soon, Miss Mills just needs to work out how to take them from outlook and insert into our blog. :-)

Rainbow Fish Art

The Rainbow Fish is an award-winning book about a beautiful fish who finds friendship and happiness when he learns to share. The book is best known for its morals about the value of being an individual and for the distinctive shiny foil scales of the Rainbow Fish.

We listened to the audio book on you tube first, it is told by the famous actor Ernest Borgnine.

Here is how we did our art.

1.First we did a draft in our drawing books and Miss Mills showed us how to add the fins and tail. We then drew on our scales and eyes.

2.Then we drew our pencil outline onto cartridge paper and drew over it with vivid.

3.Next we coloured our scales with pastel then we put tin foil on some scales and glitter on others.

4.The last step was to dye the background blue.

Our art work looks amazing. We are going to put them on our classroom windows to show everyone how amazing and vibrant  we are.

All About Me Posters

In the last few days we have been very focussed in completing our all about me posters. We all have been working very hard on our posters for all people to see. Our all about me posters have lots of questions and you need to write lots of statements. We have tried our hardest to make it eye catching for all to see.

Here are some of the questions;

What do you like? food, drink, books, colours, sport and lots more. We need to know lots about ourselves or it won’t work that well. We use our human talents in literacy to complete our work to a high standard.

This was a really good way to get to know each other and it helped us to settle in to our new class.
